Pokes Pile Up Wins, Championship On Busy Weekend

Gooooood Morning Pokes. The rest of the world may be playing pranks all day, but the Pokes are ALL BUSINESS.

More conference wins, a historic win streak and oh yeah, another title coming back to Stillwater! These Pokes weren’t playin’ around this weekend!

We’ll recap a busy weekend and much more! Check it all out below!

🐎 Make That A 10-Piece
🥎 Connect Four
🎾 Black Jack
🤠 And so much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Make That A 10-Piece. While kids around the world were stockpiling Easter eggs this past weekend, the OSU equestrian squad stockpiled another trophy for their case.

The Cowgirls took down #2-ranked TCU in the Big 12 Championship on Saturday in Waco to become the first program in Big 12 history to win four straight titles.

In Saturday’s final, OSU toppled the Horned Frogs, 10-9, to earn the title.

Riley Hogan and Sydney North led the way for the Cowgirls, earning the tournament MOP in Fences and Flat, respectively, after going undefeated on the weekend in their respective events.

🔺 Connect Four. Not sure if the seventh-ranked OSU softball squad was playing connect four, but if they were, they’d have won that too.

Four conference series. Four Ws for the Cowgirls.

In a weekend series between two teams ranked in the top-10 nationally, it lived up to the billing with three terrific games, two of which went the way of the Orange & Black.

Leading the way was Lexi Kilfoyl, who tossed not one, but ✌️ complete game shutouts in the series, allowing just nine hits in 14 innings of work, while striking out 11 Longhorn hitters. She is now 13-2 on the season.

Offensively, Caroline Wang had a hit in all three games, including a three-run HR in the first inning of game three which proved to be the difference.

🔺 Orange &) Black Jack. Usually, when it comes to 21, you want to stick with it.

Not for the top-ranked OSU women’s tennis squad.

The Cowgirls continued their historic season with yet another Big 12 sweep, blowing past Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon. OSU has now swept four of its past six Big 12 matches.

With the victory, the Orange & Black are now 10-0 in conference play, making it just the third time in program history that the Cowgirls have reached 10 conference wins and first time in the Chris Young era. The Cowgirls have also outscored opponents 54-5 in their 10 outdoor matches.

🔺 Walk It Off Cowboy! Just another chapter in the CES legend.

Former OSU standout Christian Encarnacion-Strand ended his season-opening weekend in a big way by launching his first HR of the season over the left field wall to lift the Reds to a 6-5 walk-off win over the Nationals on Sunday afternoon.

🎥 OSU ACCESS: SHOWIN’ OUT

While the Cowboys are busy on the spring football field in Stillwater, several of their former teammates showed out for their next adventure on the gridiron.

10 OSU standouts made their way to Dallas for the first-ever Big 12 Pro Day in front of hundreds of professional scouts and OSUMax was on hand to bring you all the coverage.

🤔 COWBOY TRIVIA

In OSU’s Big 12 Championship winning performance, five riders earned All-Big 12 status, marking the most by the Cowgirls since 2014.

Riley Hogan and Grace McReynolds each earned a spot on the Fences team, with Hogan also earning a spot on the Flat team. Claire McDowall, Emma Filiatreau and Tristan Bagby highlighted the Western discipline, with McDowall earning a spot on the Horsemanship team and the latter two on Reining's team.

Hogan is the first Cowgirl since 2015 to earn multiple conference accolades. Who was the last rider to do so?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Katy Krshka.

Hogan is the fourth Cowgirl to accomplish multiple All-Big 12 recognitions, joining Krshka and fellow Jumping Seat riders Samantha Harrison in 2014 and Allison Joyce in 2013.
