⚾️ NEW YORK STATE OF MIND

The pipeline to the bright lights of New York continues
for America’s Brightest Orange.

For the second straight year, the New York Mets selected a Cowboy
with an early draft pick, this time, a first round selection as two-way
stud Carson Benge was the 19th pick in this year’s Amateur Draft,
which got underway on Sunday night.

Benge is the 20th player in program history to be selected in the first round of the MLB Draft, and the first since Justin Campbell in 2022.

A two-way standout for the Cowboys, Benge has played in 119 games over two seasons in an OSU uniform and posted a .339 batting average to go along with 41 doubles, 25 home runs and 107 RBIs.

On the mound, Benge has made 28 appearances, 14 of those as a starter, and is 5-4 with three saves and a 4.88 ERA. In 72 innings of work, the right-hander has tallied 79 strikeouts, and opponents hit just .232 against him.

Who doesn’t love a little trip across the pond to enjoy some of the sights around Europe?

Both Pokes finished at with a 13-under, 267 on the weekend to finished tied for 10th in the field.

👀 TURNING HEADS

She hasn’t even competed with the Cowgirls yet, but she’s already turning heads on the course.

Incoming freshman Lucy Darr finds herself set to compete against the country’s best as the soon to be Poke is battling at this week’s 75th U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, which is being held in Tarzana, California.

Darr joins the championship's 156-player field at El Caballero Country Club after earning medalist honors at her qualifier in Omaha, Nebraska, carding a 1-over 73. She takes on the par-71, 6,347-yard layout as one of three golfers from Oklahoma.

The field will face two days of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday before advancing the low 64 scorers to the event's match-play bracket. Match play opens on Wednesday with the Round of 64 and will continue through Friday to determine the two golfers for Saturday's 36-hole championship match.

Considered the ultimate prize in junior golf, this USGA event grants the champion exemption status into all future U.S. Girls' Junior Championships for which she is age-eligible, the 2025 U.S. Women's Open Championship, the 2024 and 2025 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship and the 2025 Augusta National Women's Amateur.
