📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Lefty Locking It Down. When it comes to needing someone to lock things down, you know you can turn to a Cowboy.

That’s what the Texas Rangers did over the weekend, with former OSU standout Andrew Heaney, who went out on Saturday and outdueled Seattle’s ace, Luis Castillo, to secure a postseason berth for his team.

It’s the Rangers first postseason berth since 2016. Heaney and the Rangers begin their three-game wild card series in Tampa today at 3 p.m.

🔼 Opportunity Knocks. When the the door opens, you walk on through.

That’s exactly what OSU’s Kristina Novak did on Monday, who, along with teammate Ange Oby Kajuru, collected wins in the singles qualifying draw at the ITA All-American Championships.

Novak earned her spot in the draw by being named a "Lucky Loser”, replacing a player who had dropped out. She made the most of her second chance, defeating Lindsay Zink of North Carolina, 7-5, 6-0. Kajuru followed that with a dominant win of her own, taking down Utah's Kaila Barksdale, 6-0, 6-1.

Both Cowgirls will go for two more wins tomorrow to earn a bid into the main draw to be played later this week.

🔼 Crossing Enemy Lines. Through the first 14 games of the 2023 season, OSU is one of just six schools in the country that rank in top-25 in both scoring offense and goals against average.

Leading that defensive effort that has piled up eight shutouts this fall is sophomore Ellie Geoffrey.

Geoffrey is in her first season at OSU after spending first season at some other school in Oklahoma. She’s now closer to her hometown of Andover, Kansas and feeling more at home here in Stillwater.

⛳️ VIKTORY (AGAIN)!

Every two years, the world gathers to watch an incredible week of head-to-head golf with some of the best in the world battling it out.

This year’s Ryder Cup featured a program high three former Cowboys with Rickie Fowler, Wyndham Clark and Viktor Hovland all a part of the event.

Hovland continued his magical year with a tremendous week on the course, helping Team Europe win the event with a 4&3 head-to-head victory on Sunday.

🎧 OSU MAX PODCASTS

Last week, the OSU soccer squad celebrated Ted Lasso night at Neal Patterson Stadium.

To quote the hit series, “futbol is life” for sophomore midfielder Xcaret Pineda.

Pineda comes from a soccer family and has dribbling a ball almost as long as she could walk. Her siblings have made a career out of the game.

Now in her second season in Stillwater, she is one again proving to be a force on the pitch leading the Cowgirls in minutes played and shots.

Learn more about Pineda and her history in the game in this edition of the Pokes Pod.

🤔 COWBOY TRIVIA

With the MLB playoffs getting underway later today, all 14 playoff teams will begin their quest for a spot in the 2023 World Series.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Robin Ventura in 2000.

The then 32-year old Ventura started every game at 3B for the Mets during their 2000 postseason run that included a defeat of the St. Louis Cardinals (4-1) in the National League Championship Series.

During the run to the World Series that season, Ventura had two home runs, two doubles, eight RBIs and had an on-base percentage of nearly .375.
