It’s Tourney Time!

In the midst of one of the best seasons in program history, Coach Hoyt
and the Cowgirls are prepping for this week’s Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City.

With a few days left before their quarterfinal matchup on Friday, Hoyt jumped
on the mic to talk about what lies ahead for her squad on this week’s episode
of the Coach Hoyt Radio Show.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Four Stars. After posting one of the best regular seasons in program history, the 21st-ranked OSU women’s hoops team brought home a quartet of yearly honors from the Big 12 on Tuesday.

Leading the way was Oklahoma native Stailee Heard, who earned a spot on the First Team. Heard has played in all 29 of the team's games, making 28 starts. She currently checks in as the squad's leading scorer at 15.8 points per game, which ranks 11th among Big 12 players. She is also the team's leading rebounder at 7.8 boards per game, good for fourth in the league.

Joining Heard was Anna Gret Asi on the Third Team and Micah Gray earning Honorable Mention praise. In addition, Jadyn Wooten earned a spot on the All-Freshman team.

🔼 Nolan, Nolan, Nolan. His third of hit of the night was the biggest one for OSU baseball standout Nolan Schubart, who blasted a go-ahead HR in the eighth inning to lead the Cowboys to a 3-2 victory over visiting Winthrop and earn a third straight win.

Schubart led the Cowboys offensively, going 3-for-4 with a double and the game-winning home run. Aidan Meola followed suit with a 2-for-3 showing that included his first homer of the season.

Drew Blake earned the win, retiring the only batter he faced to end the eighth and improve to 1-1, while Sean Youngerman picked up his second save by working a perfect ninth and striking out a pair.

🔼 Seeing Silver. The men’s golf team continued its strong play this spring, earning a second consecutive second-place finish after carding a 5-under in its final round of the Cabo Collegiate on Tuesday.

The sixth-ranked Cowboys, who have now finished first or second in their last four starts, posted a 9-under total of 843 at the par-71, 7,156-yard layout. OSU's closing score was the low round of the day and drew the Pokes within five shots of #3 Arizona State, which finished at 14-under 838.

Individually, Preston Stout came up just short in his bid for his first victory of the season. The sophomore rolled in an eight-foot birdie at the last to make it a three-way tie for first place. Stout made the turn in 1-over 36 before putting together a 3-under 33 on his inward nine with three birdies and no bogeys.

🔼 Ruby Red Hot. There’s being red hot and then there’s being RUBY red hot.

Ok, maybe we made up the latter part of that, but it may catch on after the week that OSU standout hurler Ruby Meylan put together.

After going 6-0 last week in the circle, Meylan took home not only the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honor, but also the Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week.

The national honor marks the first of her career, while the Big 12 award is the second conference weekly award of her career (won Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week while at Washington). Meylan is the third OSU pitcher in school history to sweep both weekly awards, joining Anna Whiddon (2010) and Lexi Kilfoyl (2024, three times) as the only Cowgirls to do so.

Meylan wasn’t the only honoree for the Cowgirls this week as lugger Megan Bloodworth took home the Big 12 Player of the Week accolade after a monster week at the plate for OSU.
