🏀 HOOP DREAMS
The time has come.
After months and months of waiting, Pokes hoops is OFFICIALLY back on the court.
On Monday, both the OSU basketball teams kicked off their official start to practice for the upcoming 2024-25 season, which gets underway in about six weeks.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Much Deserved. For two seasons, Tony Allen thrilled the Stillwater faithful, including being a critical piece of the 2004 OSU Final Four squad.
Now, the legend grows as the Memphis Grizzlies announced that they will retire Allen’s #9 jersey in a ceremony next March.
Allen made the NBA All-Defensive team six times in that span and helped Memphis reach the playoffs all seven seasons, including a trip to the 2013 Western Conference finals.
He ranks second in franchise history in steals (762), sixth in games (462) and 10th in blocked shots (217).
Allen averaged 8.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals in 820 games (441 starts) with the Boston Celtics (2004-10), Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans (2017-18). The Celtics' 2004 first-round pick (No. 25 overall) won an NBA championship with Boston in 2007-08.
🔼 Adversity Knocks. As Kelly Clarkson told as many years ago, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
The 20th-ranked Cowboys will be looking to show just that as they head to the Little Apple for a second-straight top-25 showdown.
On the docket for the Pokes, a big time road test at #23 Kansas State.
