Cowboy Brew 3/25: It Ends With STATE!

Cowgirls Pick Up Pair of Bedlam Victories

Good Morning Pokes! In case you didn’t know, it ends with STATE!

That statement was reiterated not once, but ✌️ this weekend!

We’ll recap it all and much more! Check it out below!

🤠 And so much more!

🔺 It Ends With STATE. The OSU women’s tennis program is in its 49th season.

2024 is now officially unlike any other season in program history.

The Cowgirls made a STATEment in more than one way this weekend picking up two top-20 wins, including a Bedlam victory on Sunday to improve to 19-0, the best start EVER for OSU.

🔺 Did Ya Hear Us Clearly? Just in case you didn’t hear it the first couple times, it ends with STATE!

On the court and on the course, it doesn’t matter the location, OSU made another Bedlam statement with a thrilling 5.5-3.5 match play win over Oklahoma on Friday afternoon.

🔺 Three’s Company. The OSU wrestling squad wrapped up a hardware winning stay in KC at the NCAA Championships this past weekend.

The trip home will include three All-American trophies as Daton Fix, Dustin Plott and Izzak Olejnik all brought home hardware.

Fix wrapped up his historic career with his fourth appearance in the NCAA Finals, while Plott marked the best finish of his career to date.

Only three other Cowboy wrestlers in history have been four-time NCAA finalists, as Fix joins Richard Hutton (1947-50), Pat Smith (1990-92, 1994) and Mark Branch (1994-97) on the short list.

🔺 Un-horned. After dropping a tough Friday night match at O’Brate, the OSU Cowboys turned to its arms and they delivered.

Two masterful pitching performances and timely hitting led the Orange & Black to its first Big 12 series win of the year, taking home a 6-2 and 6-3 victory in the final two games of the set.

Brian Holliday and Tommy Molsky combined for 13 innings and 21 strikeouts in the final two games of the weekend to lead the way.

🔺 Pair In Provo. Three-for-three… not too shabby.

Winning series in the Big 12 isn’t easy. Winning road series are even more difficult.

The seventh-ranked OSU Cowgirls did just that, taking two of three on the road in Utah, winning the bookend games in the three-game series in Provo.

Caroline Wang led the offensive attack on the weekend, going 5-for-11 with four RBIs and three runs scored for the Orange & Black.

As brackets were being busted all weekend long, it only brought back a flood of memories from 20 years ago when the Cowboys ran all the way to the 2004 Final Four in San Antonio.

All the memories that seem like yesterday for so many OSU fans and OSUMax is the proud home of “Road to the Alamo: 2003-04 Cowboy Basketball.”

In addition to game broadcasts throughout the season, OSUMax will have all 14 Eddie Sutton Shows from the 2003-04 season, a full season recap and an incredible piece of footage from the infamous “football pad” practice.
