Cowboy Brew 5/29: Four Scored

Today, we hope you're having a happy, restful Memorial Day.

Good morning! And Happy Memorial Day. To all the families, friends, and soldiers who have dealt with loss, we support you and thank you for being strong. On a day that's usually spent with joy, we do not forget the sacrifices that have made it possible.

Today’s Brew will be short because we know you’re (hopefully) busy today being not busy. Think of it as a single shot of the Brew.

Now, what have into today’s Brew?

🎥 Pokes Pod: Chase Adkison
🥎 Cowgirls headed to fourth-straight WCWS
🤠 And so much more!

🎧 OSU MAX PODCASTS

Chase Adkison’s freshman year of baseball at Boise State lasted 15 games. Like all sports in the spring of 2020, it was shut down by Covid. His sophomore year almost didn’t happen.

His older brother, Tyler, posted on social media saying Chase needed a place to play. That post caught the attention of coaches at San Jacinto College in Houston.

After his first game in the fall, bigger programs started showing interest. Adkison transferred to Oklahoma State the following season, where he’s made an immediate impact on both offense and defense.

He has few goals to accomplish before he leaves Stillwater—take care of his pitchers, help lead the team to Omaha, and get a Robin Ventura glove to add to his growing collection.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Four Scored. The No. 6 national seed Oklahoma State softball team scored a Super Regional program record run total, Kelly Maxwell spun an outstanding two-hit game, and the Cowgirls advanced to a fourth-consecutive NCAA Women's College World Series berth with a 9-0 win over No. 19/19 Oregon.

With the win, OSU improved to 46-14. The victory marked the Cowgirls' 14th win over a top-25 opponent this year. The Cowgirls improved their all-time record in Super Regionals to 10-3, including each of the last five, outscoring their opponents 26-2 in that stretch.

Leading the pack was Kiley Naomi and her perfect 4-for-4, four-RBI performance—tying her career-high in hits and RBIs. Over the course of the NCAA Tournament, the graduate student has gone 9-for-17 with 10 RBI and three homers.

The Pokes head to Oklahoma City for the 2023 NCAA Women's College World Series from June 1-9, where they’ll play Florida State on Thursday night at 6:00pm CT on ESPN.

🔼 Driving It Home. Oklahoma State and O'Brate Stadium are one of 16 Regional sites for the 2023 NCAA Baseball Championship—and the Cowboys will host the NCAA Stillwater Regional June 2-5.

OSU is 41-17 on the season and will be making the 48th NCAA Regional appearance in program history, the fourth most all time. This marks the Cowboys' 10th consecutive Regional berth under head coach Josh Holliday; they have never missed the NCAA tourney during his tenure.

The remaining three teams in the NCAA Stillwater Regional will be announced this morning at 11:00am CT when the NCAA Baseball Championship field of 64 is revealed on ESPN2.
