Cowboy Brew 4/11: Collecting Crystal

Fowler Takes Home Par-3 Title at Augusta

Happy Thursday Pokes. Every year, this remains one of the biggest weeks in the golf world.

It truly is a tradition unlike any other.

A former Cowboy kicked off the events with bringing home some crystal even before the Masters even got started!

We’ll recap it all and much more! Check it all out below!

🏀 STAYING HOME

Coach Lutz made his first official hire to his staff as he announced that former OSU star Keiton Page was staying with the Cowboys and will serve as an assistant coach.

Last year, OSU’s own Doug Gottlieb was joined by Page in a special episode of “A Place Like This” that you just can’t miss.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Mr. 350. It’s been nine seasons that Coach Gajewski has been at the helm of the Cowgirls.

And over that time, there’s been A LOT of wins. 350 to be exact.

The milestone victory for Coach G came on Wednesday night when the fifth-ranked OSU softball squad battled their way to a 3-2 win over visiting Tulsa to improve to 34-6 on the year. Under Coach G, OSU is 350-143 all-time.

Leading the way was the pitching duo of Kyra Aycock and Ivy Rosenberry, who combined to scatter seven hits and allow just two runs over seven innings of work.

Offensively, the Orange & Black used a big third inning with two RBIs from Rosie Davis and an RBI single from Jilyen Poulard to provide enough scoring to bring home the W.

🔺 Just Getting Started. A tradition unlike any other.

There’s truly nothing like Masters Week and the Cowboys are all over Augusta with four alums set to tee off this weekend at the prestigious event.

Rickie Fowler got an early jump on bringing hardware home as he carded a five-under in Wednesday’s Par 3 competition to take home the top spot.

🔺 Not Turning The Page. For the past 12 seasons, Keiton Page has served in a staff role with the OSU men’s basketball program.

That won’t be changing anytime soon as Coach Lutz announced that Page will stay on board as an assistant coach next season with the Orange & Black.

🔺 Ridin’ High. While their regular season may be wrapped up and the focus on the national media, the awards just keep piling in for the OSU equestrian program.

This week with two All-Americans, but on Wednesday, a slew of accolades joined the party with 2️⃣6️⃣ Cowgirls earning NCEA academic accolades and on top of that, a pair of standouts earned monthly Big 12 honors.

Academically, seven riders were named to the NCEA First Team, while four earned spots on the second team and honorable mention list. Additionally, 15 Cowgirls were placed on the NCEA Academic Honor Roll.

On the riding side, Riley Hogan and June Roberson collected monthly Big 12 honors. Hogan earned the Fences honor, while Roberson claimed the Horsemanship accolade. It's both riders' first time earning the recognition in their careers.

With their accomplishments, OSU now has six recognitions among six riders in the 2023-24 season, the most since 2022. The six different Cowgirls to earn the conference's monthly honor is the most by an OSU team since 2017.

⛳️ FACE-TO-FACE WITH THE CHAMP

As the Masters tees off officially today, let’s jump in the OSU Rewind machine and check out a Cowboys Face-to-Face with the Par 3 Champ himself as he visited Stillwater this past fall.
