Who’s the best person to get you ready? Our favorite Cowboy, of course.

🔼 The Honors Court. Holding court in the classroom? That’s exactly what the OSU men’s hoops team did this past year.

Their achievements were honored recently as the Cowboys were one of just three Big 12 men’s basketball programs recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches for their outstanding classroom achievement.

Rising seniors Weston Church and Carson Sager were named to the NABC Honors Court and the Cowboys collectively earned the organization's Team Academic Excellence Award.

To be eligible for the latter, team members must have averaged at least a 3.00 GPA during the previous academic year. It's the second time under head coach Mike Boynton that the Cowboys have been selected.

The NABC Honors Court includes junior, senior and graduate-level student-athletes who finished the year with a 3.20 GPA or higher. Church – a sports management major from Fairview, Okla. – and Sager – a Wichita Falls, Texas native who is double-majoring in computer engineering and electrical engineering – both cleared that bar with ease.

🔼 Plotting the Course. The oldest golf tournament in the world got a taste of the Orange and Black this past weekend as the 154th edition of the Open Championship featured five OSU alums in the field.

Four of those five golfers finished in the top-33 with three in the top-25.

Viktor Hovland captured off an incredible showing in the majors with his fourth top-20 showing of the year. He finished seventh at the Masters, second at the PGA Championship and 19th at the US Open. This weekend, he finished tied for 13th at 3-under par.

Rickie Fowler and Alex Noren both finished tied for 23rd at even par, while reigning US Open Champion Wyndham Clark finished tied for 33rd at 1-over for the weekend.

🔼 From Our Leader. No doubt about it.

OSU Athletics is on the rise and it’s taking over in so many sports. The Orange and Black success in competition, in the classroom and much more is at an all-time high.

As we head into the 2023-24 season, our leader, Chad Weiberg, wanted to reflect back on a year to remember, but preview what he’s excited about in our future!

🔼 WE TRIPPIN’. Ok, well, not in those terms, but in a good way!

OSU’s men’s basketball team has started its foreign tour countdown with a series of 10 NCAA-allotted practice sessions over the next three weeks.

In addition to extra practice reps, an OSU roster featuring nine new scholarship players will benefit from early tests against three international opponents. Those dance partners were announced last week by the Big 12 with the schedule pairings for 2023-24 being released.

🔼 Jordan Day. While the rest of us are wrapping up the summer and trying to enjoy every last second of it, our Cowboys and Cowgirls are prepping for another thrilling year.

Today, we sit just 23 days away the start of the 2023-24 OSU athletic calendar.

The first game for the Orange and Black is set for Thursday, August 17th at Neal Patterson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 39 DAYS

That’s right folks, we are under 40 days away from Cowboy Football!

Today, we highlight our own #39, from Dallas, Tex., Parker Roberston.

Robertson will be a redshirt sophomore this fall and is coming off playing in 12 of OSU’s 13 games last fall, mostly on the special team units. He did seven tackles on the year and was named OSU’s Special Teams Player of the Week in the Iowa State matchup.

Off the field, he was named a first team Academic All-Big 12 honoree.

In high school at Dallas Christian, he helped lead his team to a 10-1 record during his senior year and led the team in receiving, return yards and was one of squad’s leading tacklers on the defensive side of the ball.

🤔 COWBOY TRIVIA

This fall will be the 28th season on the sideline at OSU for Cowgirls Futbol head man Colin Carmichael. In total, he’s been in Stillwater as part of the program since 1996, but took over the reins in 2005.

Since that time, the Cowgirls have piled up a 240-97-50 mark, good for a .685 winning percentage.

Carmichael will enter this fall on the cusp of his 250th victory.

Entering 2023, where does Coach Carmichael rank among ACTIVE Division I women’s soccer head coaches in winning percentage (.685)
