🔼 Heckuva Season. The No. 6 national seed Oklahoma State softball team fell to No. 4-seeded Tennessee by a score of 3-1 last night at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium at the 2023 NCAA Women's College World Series. The Cowgirls ended their 2023 season with a 47-16 record—47 victories in a single season ranks sixth-most in program history.

All-American Kelly Maxwell got the start in the circle for OSU. The left-hander pitched 2.1 innings and tallied three strikeouts against the Lady Volunteers.

Tennessee took a two-run lead in the bottom of the third as Lexi Kilfoyl entered in relief and shut down the third-inning scoring output. The transfer pitcher went 3.2 innings in relief, tallying a pair of strikeouts in the process. The Lady Volunteers added their third and final run in the bottom of the fifth inning to increase their lead to 3-0.

Morgyn Wynne put the Pokes on the board with a towering solo shot, her 11th home run of the season. But it couldn't spark a complete comeback and the 2023 Cowgirls had their season come to an end in Oklahoma State's program record fourth-consecutive NCAA Women's College World Series appearance.

🔼 The Stuff Of Legends. Former Oklahoma State wrestler Jimmy Jackson was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2023 this past weekend. The former Cowboy was a three-time NCAA champion and Big Eight Conference champion at heavyweight, compiling an 87-9-2 career record with 44 falls from 1975 to 1978.

As a 19-year-old college sophomore, he competed at the 1976 Olympics and won his opening match by technical fall over fellow Cowboy Harry Geris of Canada. And as a senior, he went 29-0 with 11 falls, which included a third-consecutive national title to cap off his illustrious career. He finished as a three-time World Cup champion and won a gold medal at the Pan American Championships in 1987.

🔼 Looking Forward. After losses in their first two games, Oklahoma State's season came to an end at the Stillwater Regional. The top-seeded and 12th-ranked Cowboys closed their season with a down-to-the-wire loss to Oral Roberts in the opener and an elimination game defeat to Dallas Baptist, finishing the season with a 41-20 record.

🔼 Stars & Bars. Oklahoma State wrestling signee Christian Carroll has claimed his spot on the Team USA U20 World Team in the 125 kg division at the World Team Trials. The No. 1 pound-for-pound prospect in the country entered the tournament with his spot in the 125 kg best-of-three final series already secured thanks to his U20 National Title in Las Vegas in late April. He handled seventh-seeded Aden Attao with ease in the series, winning both bouts by a score of 10-0, with the second victory coming in just 17 seconds.

With the win, the future Cowboy will compete for Team USA's World Team at the World Championships in Warsaw, Poland from September 14-20.

🔼 Honor Roll. Oklahoma State women's golf is gonna need a bigger trophy cabinet—Maddison Hinson-Tolchard was named the conference Player of the Year for the second straight season and head coach Greg Robertson earned his second Big 12 Coach of the Year award since 2021.

Maddison Hinson-Tolchard followed up her tremendous sophomore campaign by winning the individual title at the Big 12 Championship and finishing top-10 seven times in just 11 tournaments played. At the NCAA Championship, she posted the program's best finish at nationals in 13 years with a fourth-place outing. Her 8-under weekend total was lowest in the conference, and she was one of just three Big 12 players to finish under par.

Coach Greg Robertson led the Cowgirls to two tournament victories this season, including the program's 11th conference title, before finishing in a tie for 11th at the NCAA Championship. Oklahoma State concluded this past season with five top-3 outings and compiled a strong 27-7-2 record against conference opponents. He joins the legendary Ann Pitts as the only coaches in program history to earn Big 12 Coach of the Year twice and has now been awarded conference Coach of the Year six times in his career.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: None!

Sorry for the trick question, y’all. Oklahoma State softball’s eight-run, run-rule victory marks the largest NCAA Women's College World Series win in school history—and it's also the first time the Cowgirls run-ruled an opponent in a WCWS game.

Have a great Monday, y’all.
