On Thursday, that resume became complete as OSU legend John Smith announced his retirement after a 33-year run as the head coach of the Cowboy wrestling program.

Smith, 58, is the longest tenured wrestling coach in Oklahoma State history and trails only James Wadley (men's tennis) and Henry Iba (men's basketball) as the longest tenured head coaches at OSU, regardless of sport.

🔺 Class Acts. Another 10 win season. Another trip to the Big 12 Championship Game. Yet another Bowl win.

This past fall was quite a successful one for the Cowboys on the gridiron.

However, that success wasn’t just limited to the football field for the Orange & Black.

This week, six Cowboys were recognized as members of the 2024 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, including Alex Hale, Joe Michalski, Brennan Presley, Jake Schultz, Jake Springfield and Preston Wilson.

The society is comprised of college football players from all divisions, who have each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.

🔺 The Gold(en) Standard. Senior Bailey Golden is truly setting a golden standard for the OSU track & field program.

This past weekend, Golden had a record breaking performance at the Jim Click Shootout in Arizona this past weekend. For her performance, the veteran was named the Big 12 Women’s Outdoor Athlete of the Week.

She is the first Cowgirl in program history to be named Big 12 Outdoor Athlete of the Week on two separate occasions.

🏀 STAYING HOME

Coach Lutz made his first official hire to his staff this week as he announced that former OSU star Keiton Page was staying with the Cowboys and will serve as an assistant coach.

Last year, OSU’s own Doug Gottlieb was joined by Page in a special episode of “A Place Like This” that you just can’t miss.

As the Masters is underway in Augusta, let’s jump in the OSU Rewind machine and check out a Cowboys Face-to-Face with the Par 3 Champ himself as he visited Stillwater this past fall.

As we mentioned, earlier this week Bailey Golden was named Big 12 Women’s Outdoor Athlete of the Week.

She is one of just three Cowgirls all-time to earn the honor.
