In year one under Jacie Hoyt’s leadership, the OSU women’s basketball team earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

With year ✌️getting underway last week, the Cowgirls have the same expectations for 2023-24. Coach Hoyt and staff have added a load of talented transfers and freshmen onto the roster looking to compete in the Big 12 and nationally.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Off and Running. For the 17th time in the past 18 years, the OSU women’s squad put one in the W column to start a season.

Led by six players in double-figures, the Cowgirls rolled to a 100-59 season-opening victory over SIUE on Monday night at GIA.

Anna Gret Asi led the way with a 20-point night, while freshman Stailee Heard impressed big time in her collegiate debut with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Lior Garzon scored 17 points in 31 minutes to open her second season at OSU. She also surpassed 1,000 points for her career, getting loose for a layup in the third quarter to hit the milestone.

🔼 Back To Work. A new look Cowboys squad opened its 2023-24 season and dropped a tough 64-59 decision to Abilene Christian on Monday night.

Bryce Thompson led the way for OSU with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting and helped the Cowboys get within three late, but the Orange and Black couldn’t complete the comeback after falling behind early.

Mike Marsh – one of six players making their Cowboy debuts -- added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Quion Williams grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and Eric Dailey Jr. and John-Michael Wright each pitched in four assists.

🔼 Sweet 16. With Saturday’s big Bedlam win, the OSU football team climbed into the AP Top-25 and Coaches’ Poll.

Now slotted at #15 and #17 respectively, this marks the 16th consecutive season that the Cowboys have appeared in the nationally polls. OSU has reached the top-15 in 14 of those 16 seasons.

OSU is now 10-3 in its last 13 games against AP Top 25 opponent and has won three of its past four against those in the top-10. The win also marked head coach Mike Gundy's 100th Big 12 victory, just the third coach in conference history to reach the milestone. He only trails Bill Snyder (104) by four wins for second-most in history.

Former Oklahoma State Cowboy great Leslie O'Neal was back in Stillwater for the 40th anniversary reunion of the 1983 Bluebonnet Bowl team.

Tom Dirato caught up with O'Neal to discuss his time in Stillwater and what it is like being back after 40 years.
