🔼 It’s Miller’s Time. The latest Cowboy to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame added another mark on his resume—Terry Miller will join the Cowboy Football Ring of Honor inside Boone Pickens Stadium this upcoming fall.

The two-time All-American will join the esteemed group of Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders, and Bob Fenimore during the October 14 game when Oklahoma State hosts Kansas.

Miller, who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2022, finished fourth in the voting for the 1976 Heisman Trophy and then second in the voting the very next year. He is one of only 23 running backs in college football history to have logged two top-four Heisman finishes.

In his collegiate career, Miller played in 43 games, totaling 871 carries for 4,754 rushing yards, 49 rushing touchdowns, 5.5 yards per carry and 110.6 rushing yards per game. He is still the only player in OSU history to finish his career with three 1,000-yard rushing seasons, and he ranked fourth in career rushing in NCAA history following his final season.

🔼 Iron Sharpens Iron. No better way to get that blade sharpened by competing against the country’s best. Eric Dailey Jr. and head coach Mike Boynton started this past weekend with the opening of the 2023 USA Basketball U19 Men’s National Team Training Camp.

The camp is taking place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, and will run up until the 12-member team is announced and heads to the 2023 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup Championship—scheduled for June 24-July 2 in Debrecen, Hungary.

Eric Dailey Jr. and head coach Mike Boynton won gold together for Team USA at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship in the summer of 2022.

🔼 Shiny New Blades. Coming off a fourth straight trip to the Women’s College World Series, Oklahoma State softball is reloading, not rebuilding, and that starts with two big additions in Karli Godwin and Katie Kutz. The duo were recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year in their respective states, an award recognizing outstanding athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field.

🥎 Karli Godwin hails from East Columbus High School in North Carolina where she led her team to the Class 1A state semifinals with a .731 batting average and 20 home runs this past spring.

🥎 Katie Kutz dominated in the circle with a 19-0 record, 0.45 ERA, and 268 strikeouts in 109 innings of work for Bishop O’Connell—and she helped lead her team to a Virginia state title this past season.

🔼 Bullseye. That’s exactly what the Track & Field squads did to close out the OSU athletic calendar last week at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas.

In total, three Cowgirls and four Cowboys earned first or second team All-American accolades with fantastic showings against the nation’s best.

On the men’s side, Victor Shitsama (3,000 meter steeplechase) and Mehdi Yanouri (800 meters) shined on Friday night to earn First-Team honors. Shitsama and Yanouri join their teammate Isai Rodriguez to make it a total of three Cowboys with First-Team honors this year.

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 81 DAYS

2011 was a magical year for the Cowboys—12-1 record, Big 12 champions, Fiesta Bowl Champions, and a record-setting 81 touchdowns scored that season.

But no touchdown was bigger that year than the four-yard scamper by Joseph Randle with under 2:40 to play in the fourth quarter of the Fiesta Bowl against Andrew Luck and Stanford.

Thanks to 81 touchdowns scored all season long, the Cowboys averaged nearly 50 points per game and dominated opponents all year long en route to the program’s highest-ever ranking.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Barry Sanders

(We thought we’d take it easy on you this morning.)

The OSU legend won the Cowboys’ lone Heisman trophy with one of the greatest college football seasons in history.

During his 1988 season, he set 34 NCAA records on his way to taking home the game’s top individual accomplishment. He finished that season with 2,628 yards (an average of 238.9 yards per game) with 39 total touchdowns. In all, he racked up 3,250 all-purpose yards and helped the Cowboys finish 9-2 and a No. 12 ranking in the national polls.

Have a great Tuesday, y’all!
