Maddy Hinson-Tolchard made a commitment to attend Oklahoma State in November 2019, shortly after completing high school in Perth, Australia. However, she did not physically enroll at the university until January 2021. During the intervening six months, Hinson-Tolchard stayed at home and took advantage of OSU's online courses while familiarizing herself with the American academic system. Despite the lockdown in Australia at the time, she managed to maintain her golfing abilities by playing with her family.

Now a junior, Hinson-Tolchard finds that college life is exactly as she imagined when she first decided to come to the United States. She believes that the challenges she faced during her freshman year helped her develop as both a golfer and a person. Recently, she won both the team and individual titles at the Big 12 Championship, and she is determined to build on this success and win a national title.
