🔼 Just Getting Started. The honors have started to roll in.

OG2’s resume was already getting pretty long for 2023. That resume is only just getting started.

This week, Ollie Gordon II has been named an All-American by 24/7Sports, CBS Sports, Pro Football Focus and The Athletic.

He is a finalist for the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Year after leading all the FBS in nearly every rushing category, including rushing yards (1,614), rushing yards per game (124.2), 100-yard rushing games (8), 150-yard rushing games (5), 200-yard rushing games (2), 250-yard rushing games (2) and carries of at least 30 yards (14), 40 yards (7) and 70 yards (2).

His performances against Kansas, West Virginia and Cincinnati made him the only FBS player in the past 10 years with 250 scrimmage yards in three straight games, and his 282 rushing yards at West Virginia are the most for any FBS player in a game this season.

🔼 Historic Feat. The on-the-field success has been among the best in OSU athletic department history.

Now, the Cowboys and Cowgirls have matched that success off the field with OSU producing its best department-wide score EVER in the latest NCAA Graduation Success Rate report.

With 92-percent of student-athletes across all sports from the 2016 freshman cohort graduating within six years, it set a new program record, breaking the previous record of 88-percent.

🔼 Izzak On The Attack. It hasn’t taken long for Izzak Olejnik to assert his presence amongst the OSU wrestling squad.

Arriving after a standout career at NIU, Olejnik has taken the mats by storm for the Orange & Black and after a perfect 6-0 weekend at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, he’s not only ranked #2 nationally, he was named Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week.

Olejnik is the first Cowboy to win conference Wrestler of the Week since Carter Young and Luke Surber claimed the award in back-to-back weeks in January and February.

🔼 Not Your Average Joe. Ranking among the best groups in the Big 12 and paving the way for the nation’s leading rusher, the OSU offensive line made its presence field this fall for the Cowboys.

This season, he played nearly 1,000 snaps for OSU, allowing zero sacks, ranking among the top Big 12 lineman in pass-blocking according to Pro Football Focus.

🎳 HEADED TO HOUSTON

The sixth-longest active bowl streak in the country is set to take on the Texas Bowl for the second time in program history.

On Sunday, the Cowboys were selected to take on Texas A&M on December 27th at NRG Stadium in Houston. Game time is set for 8 p.m.

It will be OSU's fourth bowl game played in Houston, as the Cowboys have a 2-1 bowl record in the city with appearances in the 1983 Bluebonnet Bowl, the 2002 Houston Bowl and the 2019 Texas Bowl.

The 2023 Texas Bowl marks the 29th meeting between Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, with the series dating back to 1913. The teams played each other every year as members of the Big 12 Conference from 1996-2011 and faced each other twice before in bowl games, including a 1981 Independence Bowl matchup and a 2019 Texas Bowl matchup. The Cowboys have won four of the past five meetings between the two schools.

🤔 COWBOY TRIVIA

To close out the regular season, OG2 earned yet another historic achievement.

In the win over BYU, Gordon rushed for five touchdowns, matching only Barry Sanders as the only Cowboys to rush for 5+ TDs in a game.

Sanders accomplished that feat 3️⃣ times during the 1988 season.

Who was the first team that Barry rushed for 5 TDs against?

Got a guess?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Tulsa.

On October 1, 1988, the Cowboys jumped on Sanders’ back en route to a 56-35 win against Tulsa. In that game, Sanders sit the program record with 5 rushing TDs.

He went on to do it two more times against Kansas and Wyoming later in the season.

🤠 Let’s have a great Thursday, Cowboys and Cowgirls!
