Six Cowboys Honored On All-Big 12 Preseason Team

Good Morning Cowboys and Cowgirls. Before the barbecues, beach trips and fireworks this weekend, we’ve got plenty of action coming your way in today’s Brew.

We’ll be taking the rest of this week off to enjoy the holiday before ramping back up next week as we look forward to another exciting fall for the Pokes!

🏈 SENSATIONAL SIX

We are less than two months away from the return of Cowboy football
and the season is FILLED TO THE BRIM with expectations for the Pokes.

With expectations come early season recognition, which is exactly
what OSU received this week when six student-athletes were
named to the 2024 Preseason All-Big 12 team.

It marks the most preseason all-conference selections for OSU
during the Big 12 era.

The four offensive selections, led by the preseason pick for the Offensive Player of the Year and the only unanimous selection to the team in running back Ollie Gordon II, are also more than any other team, while the two defensive selections tie for the most in the 16-team conference.

📚 ACADEMIC ACES

This spring saw plenty of success for America’s Brightest Orange.

National rankings. NCAA Postseason Berths. Plenty of All-Americans.

The success was not limited to the field, track, diamond, course or any other competition surface… the Pokes dominated the classroom as well.

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 59 DAYS

Number of the Day: 59.

Yesterday, we talked about OSU’s success in season openers.

One of those season openers includes the 2017 rout of Tulsa, which
happens to be the last time the Pokes scored exactly 59 points in a game.

In a season in which OSU went 10-3 on the year, the Cowboys trounced
the Golden Hurricanes, 59-24, in front of a sold out Boone Pickens Stadium.

⛳️ THREE OF A KIND

High achievers typically don’t limit themselves to just one area of success.

That was the case for a trio of Cowgirls who were recently named to the 2024 WGCA All-American Scholar Team.

OSU stars Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, Angelica Pfefferkorn and Marta Silchenko were all recognized.

To be selected for the honor, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team's roster throughout the conclusion of the team's season and have played in 50% or more of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
