📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Country Roads. Oklahoma State baseball came up short against Bedlam-rival Oklahoma in the opening round of the Big 12 Championship yesterday as the 12th-ranked Cowboys dropped a 9-5 contest at Globe Life Field. With the loss, the second-seeded Cowboys fell to 37-17 on the season.

The Pokes will face No. 3-seed West Virginia in an elimination game this afternoon, with first pitch at 12:30pm CT.

🔼 Eight Up. Across three programs, eight Oklahoma State student-athletes were honored this week with the announcement of the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Teams.

On the men's side, Jonas Baumgartner and Dillon Stewart, both members of the Cowboy golf team, were joined by Cowboy wrestlers Dustin Plott, Victor Voinovich, and Carter Young as honorees.

Three members of the Cowgirl golf team were recognized as well with Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, Rina Tatematsu, and Han-Hsuan Yu all garnering the distinction. The trio helped the Cowgirls to a Big 12 title earlier this spring and capped their season with an 11th-place showing at the NCAA Championship this week.

🔼 Finish On Top. Oklahoma State's women's tennis team checked in at No. 19 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings of the 2023 season. The Cowgirls finished their impressive 2022-2023 campaign at 16-8 overall—including a 7-2 mark in Big 12 play—in a year where the Cowgirls held a top 25 ranking for the majority of the season and reached the NCAA tournament for the eleventh straight season.

This marks the eighth time out of the last nine seasons that the Cowgirls have finished with a top 20 final ranking. Also, in nine of the last ten years, head coach Chris Young's squad has finished in the ITA top 25.

🔼 Sitting Ducks. After sweeping their way through the NCAA Stillwater Regional, the No. 6 national seed Oklahoma State softball team hosts the NCAA Fayetteville Regional champion Oregon Ducks in the NCAA Stillwater Super Regional.

Game 1 starts tonight at 8:00pm CT and Game 2 is set for tomorrow at 5:00pm CT, with both airing on ESPN2 nationally.

Reasons for optimism this weekend? We’ve got them in spades.

💪 Momentum Is Real: Oklahoma State is in the midst of its third consecutive 40-win season, their current win streak stands at 12 games, and this will be the fourth-straight time the Pokes have reached the NCAA Super Regional under Coach Kenny Gajewski. Feels like home, doesn’t it?

🚀 Sky’s The Limit: As a team, the Cowgirls have already claimed team single-season records for doubles (100) and runs batted in (333). But did you know they're also on pace for record-setting season totals in batting average, on-base percentage, and runs scored? Leading the way on offense is a pair of All-America candidates: Rachel Becker currently ranks in the top 10 nationally in batting average (.453 – seventh), doubles (21 – first) and on-base percentage (.565 – seventh) and Kiley Naomi is the NCAA Division I active career leader in games played (262), claiming program records for double plays turned, assists, and runs scored.

History Lesson: In its third-consecutive postseason as an NCAA Super Regional host, Oklahoma State enters the weekend with a 8-3 all-time record during the Super Regional round of the NCAA Softball Championship. And against Oregon, the team owns a 15-9 series lead—including a 1-0 record in games in played in Stillwater.

🤔 COWBOY TRIVIA

Three cheers. We mentioned earlier that Oklahoma State is in the middle of their third-straight 40-win season. That’s only happened two other times in program history—in case you needed to know that is a confirmed big deal, folks.
