Cowboys Headed to Texas Bowl To Take on Aggies

Good Morning Pokes. There are over 130 schools playing at the FBS level.

On Sunday, OSU made it officially 18 straight bowl games, which puts them sixth in the country amongst that group of 130+ for active bowl streaks.

That bowl game will take them to Houston for the TaxAct Texas Bowl against an old friend.

Plus, the Cowgirls stayed hot on the court and a champion was crowned in Vegas.

What all do we have stirring in today’s Brew! Check it out below!

The sixth-longest active bowl streak in the country is set to take on the Texas Bowl for the second time in program history.

On Sunday, the Cowboys were selected to take on Texas A&M on December 27th at NRG Stadium in Houston. Game time is set for 8 p.m.

It will be OSU's fourth bowl game played in Houston, as the Cowboys have a 2-1 bowl record in the city with appearances in the 1983 Bluebonnet Bowl, the 2002 Houston Bowl and the 2019 Texas Bowl.

The Cowboys have won five of their past seven bowl games, with the most recent win coming via a 37-35 defeat over then No. 5 Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl at the end of the 2021 season.

The 2023 Texas Bowl marks the 29th meeting between Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, with the series dating back to 1913. The teams played each other every year as members of the Big 12 Conference from 1996-2011 and faced each other twice before in bowl games, including a 1981 Independence Bowl matchup and a 2019 Texas Bowl matchup. The Cowboys have won four of the past five meetings between the two schools.

🔼 Izzak on the Attack. While most people don’t want to remember the details of their trips to Vegas, OSU’s Izzak Olejnik definitely does.

Olejnik highlighted a busy weekend on the mats for the Cowboys at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational with a perfect 6-0 ledger and capturing the 165-pound title against some of the best the country has to offer.

On the season, he is now a perfect 11-0 with five of those victories coming over ranked opponents.

As a team, the Orange & Black finished ninth with 78.5 points.

🔼 Cowgirls, STAND UP. One thing was for certain, the Cowgirls were definitely going to win on Sunday.

However, the Orange & Black made sure it was them and not the visiting Cowgirls of Wyoming as OSU used hot shooting to capture the 78-62 victory.

Behind season-best performances from Lior Garzon and Stailee Heard, OSU won their second straight and have started the current four-game homestand with back-to-back wins.

Garzon finished with 24 points, coming up two shy of a career high, while shooting 7-13 from the field and 4-8 from three. Heard posted her highest scoring output of her young career, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds.
