🔼 The New Guy. Oklahoma State's Tyler Wulfert is the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for his performance in week 10.
Wulfert helped lead OSU to a 4-0 week that included a non-conference win over Oklahoma at home and a road series sweep at Kansas as the Cowboys ran their winning streak to five games.
Wulfert had multiple hits in all four games and posted a pair of two-RBI outings. His hot hitting saw his season batting average jump 52 points to .341, and he is OSU's leading hitter in Big 12 games with a .400 average.
🔼 Day One Done. Behind the strong play of junior Jonas Baumgartner, Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at the Big 12 Championship in second place at Prairie Dunes Country Club.
The Cowboys posted an 8-over 288 during the morning round of action to stand alone in third place, two shots behind Texas Tech and 13 off the pace of Oklahoma. OSU then used the round of the afternoon, a 2-under 278, to move into sole possession of second place at 566. OU grabbed the 36-hole lead at 554.
🔼 Wichita Winners. Winners of five in a row, Oklahoma State baseball is now 28-13 overall and second in the Big 12 standings with an 11-7 conference mark. Up next, the Cowboys host Wichita State tonight at O'Brate Stadium before traveling to Ann Arbor for a weekend series at Michigan.
Know Thy Opponent…
Wichita State is 24-15 overall and tied for the lead in the American Athletic Conference with an 8-4 league mark. The Shockers have won six in a row, including a sweep of No. 7 East Carolina last weekend.
Loren Hibbs is serving as WSU's interim head coach this season. Hibbs won over 800 games in 27 seasons as the head coach at Charlotte prior to returning to his alma mater in 2019.
OSU is 65-36 all time against WSU, including a 14-4 mark under Josh Holliday. This week's game marks the third and final scheduled meeting of the two clubs this season; previously, the Cowboys defeated the Shockers, 10-1, on March 22 in Wichita and lost a 13-6 contest on April 4 in Stillwater.
🔼 Stillwater Star. Oklahoma State wrestling signee Cael Hughes has been announced as the winner of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award for the state of Oklahoma by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
A Stillwater native, Hughes captured his fourth individual state title in February, becoming the 45th wrestler in Oklahoma history to accomplish the feat. He also capped off his career at Stillwater High School as the fifth wrestler to post an undefeated and untied record with a mark of 140-0.
The award recognizes and celebrates the nation's most outstanding high school senior male wrestlers for their excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship, and community service.
He joined current Cowboy wrestlers Zach Blankenship, Konner Doucet, and Daton Fix as winners of the award.
